Degree: Bachelor of Environmental Science

Target graduation date: End of 2023

My journey: I have always been passionate and motivated about making a real difference. During my teenage years, I attended three mission trips to Indonesia and West Timor. Apart of these trips included Doctor’s and Nurses running health clinics in the local villages and refugee camps. During this time, I discovered my keen interest in human anatomy. Alongside my naturally empathetic nature, I went on to study a Bachelor of Nursing in Sydney. I graduated in 2017 and have worked as a Registered Nurse across multiple specialities.

Conversely, ever since I can remember I have been enthusiastic about wildlife and the environment. Much of my childhood was spent as a ‘Joey Ambassador’ for Wildlife Warriors, raising funds and awareness for wildlife and environmental conservation. I have returned to tertiary study to fulfil my dream of saving our wildlife and wild places. I hope to use my degree’s in Nursing and Environmental Science to help people, wildlife and the environment.

I believe my journey speaks volume; in that you are not limited to what you choose to study after high school. We put a great deal of pressure on ourselves about picking the right degree, but my story shows how studying two totally diverse disciplines has satisfied my hearts desires.

Career aspirations: I would absolutely love to be involved in wildlife and environmental conservation within council or government. I have a particular interest in the management of our beautiful yet fragile koala populations. In the future I hope to complete further tertiary study and return to teach at USC.

Why did you become an Ambassador? I became an ambassador because I am passionate about sharing my story and helping others in their tertiary journey. I have embraced every moment at USC, and love being able to share this with others who may be unsure of which university to attend.

What do you like about USC? USC is the most personable university I have ever experienced. My lecturers and tutors know my name and go above and beyond in assisting my understanding of course content. USC’s generosity is astounding, providing a multitude of scholarships and bursaries during the year. The vibe at USC is that of friendliness, support and inclusion, and I’m so glad I made the choice to study at USC.
