Indigenous Primary School Engagement Programs


Sing Shake Shuffle

This program aims to provide students with learning based on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. The objective of this program is to engage students in intercultural learning through songs and dance to a level where students are able to display their learning in a showcase format. The sessions are delivered by USC Indigenous Services staff as well as local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural educators. Topics covered include Aboriginal song and dance, local Aboriginal culture, traditions language and stories.

Audience: Year 3 to 6

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures

The Re-engagement program is an interactive and fun way to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Culture. With the assistance of community Elders/Leaders we cover the following topics:

  • Identity
  • Strength in Culture
  • Bush Tucker
  • Song and Dance
  • Stories through arts and craft and
  • Celebration Day – where each student will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Audience: primary school-aged students in the Fraser Coast region
