Amy Chilman

High school attended: Canberra Girls Grammar School

Degree: Bachelor of Paramedic Science

Target graduation date: End of 2018

My journey: I got accepted to my first degree studying Ecotourism at the end of year 12 where I deferred for a year. In my gap year, I worked at a summer camp in America and travelled through Europe. After adventuring for a year, I completed my first degree which I absolutely loved and spent the next four years working in tourism and outdoor education. I realised that I enjoyed the first aid component of my work and loved living on the Sunshine Coast and so the Bachelor Degree in Paramedic Science at USC was the perfect fit for me.

Career aspirations: Once completing my degree, I hope to be a Paramedic anywhere in Queensland. After five years on the road experience, I would like to become an aero-medical paramedic, operating out of helicopters and being involved in search and rescue.

Why did you become an Ambassador? I hope to share my experiences and love of the university with others. Having previously studied elsewhere, I understand how much USC offers and hope to be able to improve a person’s experience at university.

What do you like about USC? I like the personal experience that USC offers such as the extra support, small tutorial classes and professional relationships developed with lecturers. I like the University experience of social clubs and sports such as Activate and netball. I have been very impressed with the technology available to aid in a real world learning experience.
