The Explore program is a scaffolded suite of lessons designed to broaden the career aspirations of primary school children in Years 4, 5 and 6. The program comprises three lessons for each year group, a career expo, and career-themed competitions for art and creative writing. The program is structured according to the following themes:

  • Year 4: Explore Potential
  • Year 5: Explore Possibilities
  • Year 6: Explore Pathways

The lesson plans and accompanying resources are accessed by schools directly from an edu.au domain and are taught by class teachers. The lessons are designed to complement and extend the existing curriculum of the participating schools. Pupils in Year 5 are invited to attend a career expo at their local USC campus which provides direct hands-on experience of different types of jobs and information about a range of career pathways. The program also provides the opportunity for pupils to engage directly with USC through a career-themed art competition for Year 4 pupils and a creative writing competition for Year 6 pupils.
