Robotics and Coding: Fundamentals Day

Year 8 high school students will get hands on programming experience. Using the LEGO Education EV3 Mindstorms students will explore and enhance their coding and sensor knowledge and then apply this to a series of robot challenges.

They'll work in small groups and exercise their problem-solving and team working skills, providing students with cross-curricula STEM opportunities.

Robotics and Coding: Beyond Fundamentals Day

USC Sunshine Coast: Thursday 9 May 2019

Year 8 students with prior robotics experience will learn how to push the abilities of their EV3 robots, introducing new concepts such as variables, decision blocks and 'randomness'. They’ll create simple games and develop their very own robot pet.

Students are expected to know how to move a LEGO robot around and be familiar with the use of sensors.

About the presenter: Dr. Damien Kee, a passionate Educational Technologies advocate, who specialises in bringing technology concepts to teachers and educators around the world. With a focus in Robotics, Programming and Electronics, he works to educate teachers on the benefits and relative ease with which technology can be embedded into their daily classroom activities.

Registration: Places are limited (maximum 5 students per school), as each daily event is capped at 30 participants. Registrations open at the commencement of the school year and with the limited places are allocated according to receipt of registration.
