Lara St Clair

High school attended: Mountain Creek State High School

Degree: Bachelor of Nursing Science

Target graduation date: End of 2020

My journey: I studied the International Baccalaureate program in high school, which allowed me to study science subjects I enjoyed like biology and psychology. After facing complicated health issues during my final schooling years, I developed a passion for medicine and helping others. I decided that studying nursing at USC would be an excellent way for me to gain entry into medicine. I was so excited to get hands-on experience and to begin learning about health, that I accepted my offer to start studying straight after I completed high school.

Career aspirations: Once I complete my degree, I hope to sit the GAMSAT and begin studying medicine at a university in Queensland, while working as a registered nurse in a hospital setting. My dream career is to work as an emergency paediatric doctor.

Why did you become an Ambassador? I found USC extremely supportive when I applied to study. USC considered the challenges I faced during high school and offered their assistance and guidance. As an ambassador, I hope to provide this support for future students who are unsure which career path is right for them or just need some clarification about their own journey.

What do you like about USC? One of the many reasons why I love USC is that all students are treated as people rather than a number. I have found the university to have a strong sense of community and unity. The campus is somewhere I enjoy going to and feel motivated to study at due to the support offered by peers and faculty.
