  • Dr Jude Maher (USC) - Optimising nutrition for intergenerational health - pregnancy and the lactation period

Jude Maher is a Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at USC. Her research interests centre on understanding, enabling and enhancing maternal nutrition. Jude aspires to contribute to the intergenerational nutritional health of our region through this focus. Jude uses multiple methods to achieve these outcomes including qualitative, quantitative and strength-based approaches to research.

  • Dr Honor Hugo (USC) - Identification of markers predictive of breast cancer in void volume breastmilk collected during weaning

Dr Honor Hugo has been working as a postdoctoral research fellow in the field of breast cancer research for over 10 years, with a focus on cancer cell biology and more recently how to better detect breast cancers. In this regard, her work is focused on mammographic density and its contribution to missed cancers and cancer growth, along with the identification of predictive cancer biomarkers in breastmilk for post-partum breast cancer.

  • Caren Biddulph (USC) - Maternal nutrition and HMO composition in breastmilk

Caren Biddulph is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with a special interest in human lactation. Carencompleted her Nutrition and dietetics degree(Bachelor of Science) in South Africa, and then did her Masters in Nutrition at Griffith University, Australia. Caren currently works in private practice and for Nutricia, whilst completing a PhD at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Caren hopes to share her passion for breastfeeding by educating others about the importance of nutrition for infants and their mothers.
