About the charity

Teens Take Control is a Sunshine Coast based charity who want to help teenagers who are struggling with low self-esteem and depression. The founder, Brenden Wilkens (and owner of Core Strength Fitness Maroochydore), is providing the teens with mentorship programs that will give them the confidence and support they need. Today Social media bullying, harassment, depression and low self esteem is very common for teenagers which is why Core Strength fitness has decided to provide the teenagers with mentors. These mentors are experienced trainers who will coach the teenagers and help them to ‘Take Control’.

About the USC Student 'Crafty Crew'

The Crafty Crew is made up of six USC students who created the event on behalf of Sunshine Coast Turf Club as a part of a third-year Public Relations project (CMN243). Our aim is to work with local businesses and clientele to achieve our goal of creating a place for a younger audience on a Friday night that is more than just a place to party. In addition to this, the event will raise funds and awareness for the charity, because we believe it is important to engage a younger audience to help them 'take control'.
