Orientation is designed for new students, to help you make the ​best possible start to your university experience.

It's the perfect opportunity to learn about the university, your campus and study requirements for the year and discover the wide range of support services available to help you succeed at USC.

The most valuable session you can attend during Orientation is your Essential Program Information session where you can meet your teaching staff and find out more about your program of study.

Select your program from the drop-down list for your session date, time and location. Once you've found your session, check out the full Orientation program for other activities and sessions to attend.

What should I attend?
  • Your Essential Program Information session is key. Select your program from the drop-down list above to find your session.
  • Plan the rest of the day around your program session. There are plenty of skills sessions to attend as well as opportunities to check out the campus, connect with other students and familiarise yourself with support services available.
  • Come to skills sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday to learn about successfully planning, researching and referencing assignments.

Campus Tour

Join in on a campus tour! Campus tour guides are current students who are here to help make your transition into university life smooth and enjoyable. On a campus tour you will learn the location of key services including the Library, Student Services and other on-campus facilities and amenities.

There are three tour times available:

Essential Program Information session

Essential in name, essential in nature. Come along and meet your teaching staff, find out more about your program of study and meet other new students in your program.

Getting to know USC

In this session you will be introduced to the various services that can support you in your studies at USC.

Discover the Library

Library staff will introduce you to the services, spaces, and extensive print and online resources offered through the library to help you achieve academic success throughout your studies. You'll also find out where you can go for help.

Lunch is on us! Enjoy live music performances from USC Music students and take the time to explore support services and the campus, meet your fellow students, Student Representative groups and enjoy activities.

See an overview of core IT systems and services used by students. Find out more about Blackboard - the learning and course management system you will use for your studies.

International Preparing for USC Session

International Students – don’t miss your Preparing for USC session tailored to meet the needs of our guests from overseas! This is your opportunity to learn more about campus facilities, who to contact for assistance, how things work at USC, and our top tips for success. This session is highly recommended for new International students We also highly recommend that you attend the Essential Program Information Session for your program which the majority of your courses sit within.

Parking and Transport

Explore your transport options, plan your journey and allow plenty of time to get to campus each day. If you plan to drive to campus, make sure you know what the parking rules are and be aware that it can be quite busy during Orientation and over the first few weeks.

  • Collect your Student ID card (submit photo here)

  • Collect your free student welcome bag which contains your student diary

Submit your photo for your student ID card so that you can collect it at Orientation.

Make sure you bring alternative original photo ID (eg driver's licence or passport) to Orientation to confirm your identity when you collect your card.
