Adaptation in Pacific Island Countries

To our Pacific family - o le ala i le pule o le tautua

The Pacific is a special place. So too are those studying at USC with a Pacific Islander background, or just a passion for the Pacific Islands.

USC has recently established the Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research (ACPIR), which will be formally launched in January 2020. It may be a surprise to many, but USC has a long and proud affiliation to the Pacific. We are now a national leader in Pacific fisheries, forestry, agriculture, and climate research. We also have rapidly emerging strengths in Pacific health, tourism, sport, social sciences (and other areas still being discovered).

In the early stages of establishing ACPIR, we are keen to open a conversation with USC’s student body, in terms of how we can help enrich your USC experience. Our first challenge is making the connection.

If your mind, body or soul is somehow connected to the Pacific and you want to be part of this conversation, please contact Gail Wilkins at gwilkin2@usc.edu.au.
