In 2019 you told us that the borrowing of library resources was unnecessarily complex and often high demand materials such as Course Reserve items were not available when you needed them most.
We heard you, and following a comprehensive review of our borrowing conditions we are pleased to let you know that in 2020 USC Library will be providing you with a vastly improved student experience.
One Library for all USC Students
Library collections across all USC Libraries are now available to all USC students regardless of your study location. Students can easily request material to be sent to their preferred pick-up location via a seamless request process using the USC Library Catalogue.
Keep the items you borrow for longer
Provided the item you have is renewable and is not recalled for another student you can now keep your loan for longer. Simply go online to access your My Library Account to renew.
Increased fines for overdue items
USC Library also recognizes the importance of making its collections available and accessible to as many students as possible, and to encourage the timely return of materials, library fines for overdues have increased to:
- $2 per hour for overdue Reserve collection items (2-hour loan).
- $2 per day for overdue General collection items that have been recalled to fill a request from another student.
- $2 per day for overdue 1 Day Loans.
Revised fines threshold before payment is required
The good news is that you will not be required to pay fines until you have accrued $20 or more in fines. Once you reach $20 in fines you will be blocked from borrowing until the fine is paid.
All information about your loans, requests, fines is accessible at your fingertips from your My Library Account, putting you in control.
