Become a member of USC's Disability Access Groups

19 Mar 2021

We are seeking expressions of interest from current USC students with lived experience of disability to join the Disability and Accessibility Working Group (open to all students) and the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan Implementation Group (open to postgraduate students including HDR and/or Coursework).

Both working groups will have wide representation from across the university and participation will seek greater student feedback.

Disability Access and Inclusion Plan Implementation Group

This group will oversee the implementation of the recently developed Disability Access and Inclusion Plan. A summary of the Plan can be found on the USC website.

Commitment

The group will meet every two months for 90 minutes (via Zoom or face to face), with the first meeting to be held in April 2021. The minimum time commitment involved as a member is attendance at these regular meetings to actively provide input to facilitate the implementation of the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan. This is a valuable professional development opportunity, and a chance to have your voice heard in contributing to this important work.

How to apply

For those students interested in joining the Implementation group, please submit an Expression of Interest addressing the following criteria:

  • Describe the skills, knowledge and experience (including lived experience of disability) that you can contribute to the implementation of the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (in 300 words or less – personal details of disability not required).

Send the EOI to DAIP@usc.edu.au by 5pm on Thursday 1 April.

How will members be selected?

All EOI's will be assessed by the Chairperson of the Implementation Group on a merit basis, with assessment criteria including:

  • Experience and/or lived experience that demonstrates your ability to contribute to the implementation of the plan.
  • Previous experience contributing to the implementation of policy or action plans.
Disability and Accessibility Working Group

This working group aims to become a representative group within the Student Senate Governance Framework. Student feedback, discussion and points for improvement regarding disability and accessibility at USC are welcomed in an informal meeting. Nomination to participate is not required.

The first meeting for this group will be held at Sippy Downs campus on Tuesday 30 March at 11am, with face-to-face and online options available. Carers and allies are also welcome to participate.

To attend, please see more details on Student Hub.
