Get ready for a new digital learning experience with Canvas.
From Semester 1, 2022, Canvas will replace Blackboard as the new learning management system. You will be able to access course learning materials, videos, discussions and assessments via Canvas. It's also a great space to connect and collaborate with other students.
The user-friendly platform will improve the digital learning experience for all USC students. You will receive an invitation to join Canvas two weeks before Semester 1, 2022. Until then, check out the FAQs below and keep an eye out for more information on Canvas.
What is Canvas?
Canvas is USC's Learning Management System (LMS) implemented in Semester 1, 2022 to replace Blackboard. The Canvas LMS is an open and reliable web-based software that allows USC to manage digital learning. In Canvas, our teaching staff create and present online learning materials and assess student learning, and our students engage in courses and receive feedback about skill development and learning achievement.
How do I access Canvas?
All enrolled students will be given access to Canvas two weeks prior to their teaching period. For Semester 1, 2022 this is Monday 14 February 2022, students can navigate to Canvas via learn.usc.edu.au.
What is happening with Blackboard?
Blackboard serves two main functions: course delivery, and information delivery through Blackboard Organisations. The course delivery function will shift to Canvas from Semester 1, 2022, whereas the information delivery function will remain in Blackboard until June 2022.
Students can also access 6-12 months of their previous Blackboard courses until this date. From June 2022, information delivery for students will reside in USC's new Student Portal.
