UniSC researchers seek people with fibromyalgia syndrome for a state-of-the-art brain imaging study at the Thompson Institute in Birtinya, Sunshine Coast.
The study is addressing the lack of effective diagnosis and treatment for fibromyalgia and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), by investigating the diseases’ links to certain functions of the brain.
Participants need to be aged 18–65 years, on minimal to no medications and have no other significant medical illnesses.
The world-first NHMRC-funded study is attempting to discover a diagnostic MRI signature and elaborate mechanism of dysfunction within the brain in fibromyalgia.
