USC's Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are free weekly one hour sessions held via Zoom to help students improve grades and connect with peers.
What is PASS?
PASS sessions are optional sessions attached to a specific USC course. The sessions are free and are designed to provide a peer-led approach for processing the course material assigned by the lecturer.
Sessions are facilitated by a peer who is a PASS Leader. The PASS leader is a student who has excelled in the course before, and has completed leadership training. During the sessions, the PASS leader uses interactive learning strategies which encourage involvement, comprehension and synthesis of course content.

What is a PASS Leader?
During the program a PASS Leader is assigned to a course. This is a student who has excelled in a targeted course and completes PASS leadership training. The PASS leader attends some of the lectures to keep up with the course content being presented and to model effective student practices and attitudes. During these sessions, the PASS leader uses interactive learning strategies which encourage involvement, comprehension and synthesis of course content. In addition, the PASS leader will share tips and advice of effective study techniques.
Overview of the role
The PASS Leader is a casual paid position during semester time (depending on the campus and number of students in the course). As PASS Leader, you are expected to prepare study materials for the sessions, and facilitate weekly 1-hour workshops.
The PASS Leader position provides valuable work experience opportunity by developing your employability skills through problem solving, leadership, communication and creative thinking.
