Dr Karen Woolley was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in September 2011 in recognition of her significant achievements and contributions to the advancement of knowledge economies and business innovation globally.

Dr Karen Woolley is an outstanding leader, world class thinker, and inspirational role model dedicated to the advancement of the knowledge economy and ‘small giant’ business innovation, who is making a mark on the world stage. Karen made a significant contribution to the Sunshine Coast region as a Director of the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast Propriety Limited. At the University, Karen has been a driver in helping to establish the Clinical Trial Management course and she is an Adjunct Professor and a regular presenter to Innovation Centre events, including those in collaboration with the University of Cambridge. Karen also took a positive and proactive role in developing practical strategies to position the Sunshine Coast University Hospital as an economic asset for the region. Karen is the CEO of ProScribe Medical Communications, a leading edge international business based in Noosa. Karen’s client list includes the world’s largest pharmaceutical company, the world’s largest biotech company and renowned clinical researchers from academic centres worldwide. Karen has also won the Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award, and is one of the few women in Australia who has served on the boards of multi-million dollar organisations in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.
