Steve Hall

Honorary Senior Fellow (September 2017)

Steve Hall was named an Honorary Senior Fellow in September 2017 in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of USC Design students over the past 20 years.

Steve Hall owns and operates Sunprint, a Coolum-based design and printing business that is a leader in innovation and environmental responsibility on the Sunshine Coast. To date, Steve has received 50 industry awards for innovation and sustainability in printing.

In managing the production, print and installation of USC design products, both in Australia and overseas, Steve has ensured USC’s quality and commitment to sustainability is reflected across a range of student-led projects, including exhibitions in the USC Art Gallery, the Colour Project display in Building D, and the Letaba Elephant Hall in South Africa. Steve regularly donates his time and expertise to these projects, ensuring students can achieve the best design outcomes for minimal cost.

Since 1997, Steve has served on three USC Design Advisory panels and other USC committees. He has also given countless hours of guidance and mentorship to final-year USC Design students, teaching them about industry standards and how to best prepare their work for printing, including the use of specialised stock and bleed processes. Under his instruction, students have the valuable opportunity to visit Sunprint’s commercial premises and print their own portfolios, which is a crucial stage in their transition to the design workforce.

Through his reputation, recommendations and network, Steve has also facilitated work opportunities for a number of USC Design students, in the local area and internationally.
