Breadcrumbs

Professor Catherine Manathunga (PhD) is a Professor of Education Research in the School of Education at The University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia.

I am an historian who draws together expertise in historical, sociological and cultural studies research to investigate the fields of critical university studies and doctoral education.

My research draws upon postcolonial and Foucauldian theories and methodologies. My most recent two volume co-edited collection with Dorothy Bottrell in the Palgrave Macmillan series Critical University Studies focuses on academic work in the 21st century (Resisting neoliberalism in higher education: seeing through the cracks (Vol. 1) and Resisting neoliberalism in higher education: prising open the cracks (Vol. 2)).

The shiFt I would like to contribute to is that universities retain their commitment to cultural democracy and social justice and become spaces of radical hope and conviviality.
