Profile

Associate Professor Jennifer Rowe holds the position of Associate Professor in the School of Nursing Midwifery and Paramedicine. She contributes to all aspects of strategic planning in Learning and Teaching, curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. She is the current portfolio leader for postgraduate programs in SoNMaP.

An experienced researcher, Jennifer’s primary area of research and scholarship is early parenting and family adjustment. She has been chief/co-chief investigator in funded research projects in the areas of maternal transition, breastfeeding promotion, early parenting support service evaluations, parenting experience and adjustment during transitions home with a preterm infant, neonatal nurses’ support for parenting adjustment, as well as teenage maternal adjustment for young mothers of preterm or low-birth weight infants. These research projects have involved multi-disciplinary collaborations with academic colleagues, health services and nursing and midwifery, clinicians. Jennifer supervises higher degree by research candidates in these topics to support their development as researchers and academics.

Jennifer’s second area of research and scholarship is higher education and academic leadership development. She has twice been a partner with nursing colleagues and the International Project Group in successful Australian Leadership Award Fellowship grants which have funded projects to build leadership in Nursing Education in Eastern Indonesian to address Millennium Development Goals. She has participated in Office of Learning and Teaching grants; in developing a model for professional conversations and academic leadership and most recently as the USC team leader, in a National Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT) Strategic Priority Commissioned Grant in which 8 regional universities investigated the C21st student experience in regional universities.
