- molecular microbiologist
- investigating factors affecting koala health
- understanding the microbiome as part of health and disease
- investigating bacterial disease (chlamydia) in koalas
- investigating viral disease (KoRV) in koalas
Dr Quigley brings a range of experience from both human and animal health fields to study what factors are important contributors to koala health. Her work incorporates several facets of koala life, from their natural environment, genetics and microbiome (the normal bacteria that live in and on the koala) to investigations of current bacterial (chlamydia) and viral (KoRV) diseases challenging local populations. By gaining an understanding of these factors, both individually and as a collective, Dr Quigley’s work aims to improve the well-being of koalas.
