USC to sign agreement with Abu Dhabi

17 July 2013

The University of the Sunshine Coast will sign an agreement today with the Department of Transport of Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.

USC’s Engineering academics are excited about securing a formal link with a city that is home to some of the most impressive engineering projects on earth. It will enable research projects at the Sippy Downs campus to be extended to the Middle East.

Four Emirati representatives, wearing traditional dress, will attend the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at USC at 12.30pm. Among them will be Faisal Al Suwaidi, Abu Dhabi’s General Director of Main Roads.

USC’s Professor of Engineering Mark Porter said the agreement would promote joint research, studies and continuing education in areas like transportation, road management, environment and natural resources.

It will also highlight opportunities for students from Abu Dhabi to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degree studies in engineering, management and business, and in English language courses at USC.
