Sunshine Coast business owners, company leaders and entrepreneurs are being encouraged to attend an interactive business leaders’ workshop being hosted by USC’s Business School.

The half-day program on Friday 18 October aims to provide insights into lifting productivity and boosting business growth in the current climate of complexity and disruption.

USC Professor of Marketing Meredith Lawley said the workshop will focus on strategic management, the power of innovation, leadership engagement and reducing burnout, with presentations from leading USC business academics Dr Wayne Graham, Dr Retha Scheepers and Dr John Whiteoak.

“It doesn’t matter what industry you may work in, there’s something for every manager and future leader at this event,” Professor Lawley said.

“It’s a great opportunity to network with like-minded locals and also get a sneak peek at what study options are available to the business community through USC,” she said.

Professor Lawley said current Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) students will attend the event to meet with workshop participants and answer any questions.

These EMBA students have recently returned from a study tour of China that included visits to a variety of different companies in industries from aviation to health care to logistics, marketing and the not-for-profit sector.

Local bequest manager Dave Martin was one of the students who took part in the tour.

“The leadership qualities and willingness to go the extra mile to help us complete task assignments while were we travelling made it a wonderful learning experience,” Mr Martin said.

“I don’t think I could have chosen a better organisation than USC to do my EMBA through, and the China trip has really highlighted this fact for me once again.”
