My job

As a nurse, I conduct patient assessment, administer medications and monitor and record a patient’s condition.

How I got the job

While at University I did several small placements at Nambour and Caloundra Hospital and at a Noosa GP clinic.

I also did an internship at Noosa Hospital. I applied for a job there and was selected from more than 140 applicants.

What I enjoy most

The best thing about my job is helping people. I also love the people I work with. It is like a family.

Why university?

It qualified me as a registered nurse and my internship experience also helped me to gain employment.

Why USC?

I found when I was on placements at hospitals with students from other unis, I had great background theory as well as hands-on from the great nursing lab. I also liked the mature student mix.

I started a similar degree a few years earlier and I felt really out of place and old. I was only 23 at the time! At USC, I made strong friendships with people my age and that helped me get through. I also found the staff very approachable.
