Graduation is a special celebration for all who attend. Most of the time, things all go to plan. Except when they don't. We caught up with people who work "behind the curtain" as they re-live some awkward moments from Graduation over the past 20 years.
"During the Graduate address, the microphone started playing up. We had no sound at all. It turns out, out of the 100's of frequencies available, we had selected the only other one in use by our athletics club."
"We had a few barefoot graduands to manage over the years. Of course the graduates who arrive in fancy dress also stand out."
"The 2014 ceremony was one of our rainiest Graduations ever. Trenchers are made of cardboard. It wasn't pretty."
"The last single Graduation ceremony was also our longest. After 2 1/2 hours, the audience was so thankful when the last name was read, that Anton Zafir received a standing ovation. He hugged the Chancellor."
"There are so many stories but Graduation is always just a really special event. Students, University staff and the community come together. We love seeing students achieve their goals. It is what we are all about. There is a wonderful feeling in the air at every ceremony."
