Julie Schomberg (nee Gatehouse) worked for more than 20 years as a journalist for newspapers and magazines, including publications owned by APN News & Media.
She was a reporter for the Sunshine Coast Daily in the mid-1990s when construction of the University of the Sunshine Coast began and has keenly watched its development since. Her early career also included working in the media office of Queensland’s Education Minister.
This is Julie’s second book. She previously coauthored ‘My mate Steve Irwin’ (Longueville Books, 2009) with the Crocodile Hunter’s childhood friend Tony Frisby. To hone her writing skills for this memoir, Julie enrolled in a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing at USC in 2008. Soon after, she started working for the University as a Media Relations Officer – a role that has provided her with significant insights into USC’s history and future directions.
