Jessica is from China, and is studying in the Academic English program at USC.

I’m enjoying it because the teacher is nice and the classmates are very nice.

When I first came to Australia, I was very shy and did not want to talk to anyone and now I talk to people. It’s also helped my reading, but most important is that it makes me feel comfortable speaking in English.

With writing, I have a lot of grammar mistakes, but now I have been correcting mistakes and getting better. It’s getting used to the different structure of English to Chinese. I just practice more.

I want to study here at USC in the future when I finish the EAP course. I’m still thinking about what I’ll do in the future, but I will come back to USC because it’s very good. It’s more helpful for the student studying here.

My favourite thing in the English Language program is the project work – giving each other ideas. It’s effective working with each other.

The teachers here are very nice and helpful. If I ever ask a question after class, they will answer. If I ask a second time, they never say, “I have told you”. They are very patient.
