Breadcrumbs

Rick Jaeger is currently completing his PhD, entitled ‘Optimisation of Culvert Design Processes to Reduce Flooding, Environmental Damage and Community Costs on the Sunshine Coast’ at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

His research aims to develop strategies to increase the performance in existing culverts so that they can deal with higher flowrates expected due to climate change.

After finishing High School Rick moved to South Africa, where he helped to build an ecofriendly and sustainable straw-bale house in the Cape Town area and worked in social projects in a township close to Johannesburg.

During his undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering in Munich, he came to Australia to undergo a three month internship at the University of South Australia, where he was involved with research on catchment areas for drinking water supply.

Rick then went on to complete his Masters in Sustainable and Energy Efficient Building Design, specialising in modelling with Computational Fluid Dynamics.

In 2016 he decided to even further his skills in this field with the acceptance of a PhD scholarship from USC and the Sunshine Coast Council.

Rick is passionate about environmental issues and sustainability.
