Professor Greg Hill

We're celebrating the animals we have living on campus through recording their photographs.

Gerard's working through the different family of animals. He's done the mammals, he's done virtually all the reptiles in this area and he's on to the insects now which should keep him busy for another 10 years.

In the end, we'll have an enormous database and increasingly, we've got students here specialising in environmental science and we have the new Animal Ecology degree. All these data that Gerard's recording, they're going to be a resource for those students.

And it's also an inspiration I think to students in areas like graphic design who are doing photography. To have someone like Gerard, as a personal coach, for some of those people in how you go about recording different wildlife species because you just can't walk up and get them to pose for photographs. It's a very complicated business.

So, all in all, it's a wonderful opportunity.
