Property graduate gains job in prime location

A University of the Sunshine Coast graduate with a passion for property has landed a position with one of Australia’s largest developers.

Hannah Williams of Maleny is thriving in her role as a development professional for Stockland Development, which has seen her organising key components of a major Caloundra residential community.

Hannah, 23, who graduated from USC in 2015 with a Bachelor of Property Economics and Development, said she had already been involved in tasks like designing parks and streetscapes, bridge construction and coordinating environmental rehabilitation for Stockland’s Bells Reach project.

“I’d say ‘development professional’ is a very broad title for a very broad role,” she said.

“I help keep key deliverables on track for Bells Reach such as civil works, landscape works, surveying, marketing, community development and management of budgets.

“One of the reasons I enjoy my role so much is that no day is ever the same. One day I might be in high-visibility clothing and steel-capped boots trekking through bushland and the next I might be travelling interstate to attend national conferences.”

Hannah, a Maleny State High School graduate, said she was delighted to be working as a property industry professional while continuing to live on the Sunshine Coast.

“I’m now employed by Australia’s largest and most diversified property development company working on one of the largest projects in Australia without having to move to a capital city,” she said.

“Attending USC was the best decision I've ever made. The lecturers invest a lot into their students. They knew my name and I never felt like just a number.

“They took my learning beyond theory which better prepared me for the workforce.”

Applications are now open for mid-year entry for a range of programs at USC.
