BComn Sunshine Coast

Katie has been a 7 News journalist since 2006. She started as an intern while in her 3rd year of study at USC and basically became part of the furniture and never left. She has worked across Queensland reporting on everything from cyclones, to crime to cat up a tree stories. Katie loves the adrenaline of live television but also the intimacy of local news.

As a farmer’s daughter Katie has a passion for rural affairs and the interests of regional communities. She's become a strong advocate for better services for communities outside the capital cities.

Katie has filled many roles at Channel 7, including becoming part of the presenting team in 2015. She regularly fills in at the desk for the 6pm news but also spent a few years developing the network’s first Online News bulletin which was broadcast across 7’s social media outlets.

In 2016 Katie was awarded the USC Alumni of the Year for regional achievement and hopes to use this platform to further celebrate and encourage students from rural backgrounds to pursue higher education opportunities. Katie has settled on the Sunshine Coast with her cameraman husband and two young children.
