Appendix B RAP Consultation Process for version 2017-2019
January 2016: First Draft 2017-2019 RAP submitted to Reconciliation Australia for feedback
February 2016: Feedback received from Reconciliation Australia (RA)
March/April 2016: Executive review of RA feedback. It was decided to move from a STRETCH RAP framework to an INNOVATE RAP Framework due to USC's accelerated demographic expansion.
10 May 2016: Draft to Vice-Chancellor and President, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students), and Directors, Northern Campuses (Gympie and Fraser Coast), Student Wellbeing, and Human Resources. Feedback due 17 May 2016.
24 May 2016: Draft to all USC staff. Feedback due 31 May 2016.
14 June 2016: Draft to the Indigenous Advisory Committee for discussion at meeting on 28 June.
28 June 2016: Presentation of the Draft RAP by Indigenous Services to the Indigenous Advisory Committee.
Appendix C External Consultation
Through the Indigenous Advisory Committee and Indigenous Services, consultation took place in 2015 with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, groups, organisations and students.
March 2015: Elders preliminary consultation.
May 2015: Yarning Circle consultation at the Buranga Centre.
November 2015: Revised draft for community consultation.
December 2015: Feedback incorporated into Draft RAP document.
For 2016, consultations with the Elders and their communities, will take place via the Indigenous Advisory Committee and Indigenous Services.
Appendix D External Advisory Committee
The Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) is USC's external advisory group and includes Indigenous students and community members.
IAC's Terms of Reference are:
- To advise the University on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student matters including equitable access, participation, retention and success.
- To monitor outcomes and advise on strategies to increase the employment and career development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in academic and non-academic roles at the University.
- To review the impact of University and government policy developments on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and student outcomes.
- To collaborate with employer and industry/professional bodies to build and extend pathways into higher education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- To advise on development of the University's Indigenous cultural competence, including the strategic direction and excellence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and research.
