Be at the forefront of cyber security and crime prevention
In a digital world, cyber security is a growing priority for governments, industry and individuals.
Learn the skills to monitor, investigate and prevent cybercrime from industry experts with decades of experience in the field, including the FBI, US Government, Australian Crime Commission and more. Cyber security graduates are in high demand worldwide – Deloitte Access Economics projects a need for 60,000 additional cyber security professionals by 2030 in Australia alone.
Taught by experts from the Institute for Cyber Investigations and Forensics, USC’s fully online cyber security programs will help you forge a career in this fast-growing field. Whether you're new to cyber security, are looking to upskill or want to formalise your work experience to become a qualified specialist, USC has a study option for you.
The Institute for Cyber Investigations and Forensics offers four programs:
- Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security
- Graduate Certificate in Cyber Investigations
- Graduate Certificate in Cyber Forensics
- Master of Cyber Investigations and Forensics
The Master of Cyber Investigations and Forensics is a combination of the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Investigations and the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Forensics plus a third year of study, which can be completed as either an industry work-placement project or a research dissertation.
Each graduate certificate can be studied as a standalone qualification.
Advanced programs include virtual placement experiences with organisations such as IDCARE, where you’ll gain practical experience at the forefront of cybercrime research and prevention.
Taught by international experts
USC’s Institute for Cyber Investigations and Forensics is the first of its kind in Australia, offering a blend of specialist training, research, commercialisation and community advocacy.
The Institute is led by Professor David Lacey, an internationally recognised expert in identity security and financial crime and the former Executive Director of the Australian Crime Commission. You’ll be taught by world-class practitioners formerly engaged by Australian and US Intelligence and Defence agencies, Australasian law enforcement agencies, top-tier law firms and Cisco Australia.
Designed to assist career-changers answering the national call for cybersecurity specialists, digital investigators, and digital forensics experts, the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security provides an entry-level pathway for learners with no prior computing academic qualifications, but who possess keen, inquiring minds. Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security enables you to progress to the Master of Cyber Investigations and Forensics.
If you hold a prior degree that includes assessed study in computer skills, or relevant cybersecurity or digital investigations industry experience and higher-level relevant industry vocational qualifications, you may apply directly for the Master of Cyber Investigations and Forensics or either of its component parts, the Graduate Certificate in Cyber Investigations or Graduate Certificate in Cyber Forensics.
