Not offered until Semester 2 2022 Software Defined Networking (SDN) represents a paradigm shift in computer networking by separating the network’s Control Plane from the Data Plane, which allowsfor innovation through centralized software. The course surveys the fundamentals of SDN, including architecture, layer abstractions, applications and a handful of classic and recent approaches to designing programmable networks. The goal of this course isto develop sound approaches for flexible management ofcomplex and disjointed network functions, including routing and traffic engineering, resource control, and security. Hands on practice and application will prepare students for practical SDN implementation.
