This builds on introductory ideas about the planning discipline (ENP101 and knowledge about Queensland planning context (ENP211 within the planning governance theme area. The theories that underlie Western urban and regional planning will be debated and explored in relation to the major changes in the planning profession, changing roles of the planner, and the influence of paradigms such as sustainable development and neoliberalism. You will also examine the potential for formal and informal abuse of power in planning systems, and possible futures.
