FIN221 Insurance and Risk Management

The material covered in this course is a very important part of financial planning. Financial planning is very much about meeting the client's needs and also protecting the client from risk. Some types of risk can be insured against while others can't. At times a client may resist spending money on insurance despite the desirability of the cover. Juggling client needs, acting in a professional manner, shielding the client from risk and avoiding unpleasant arguments and possibly legal disputes are all considerations of the adviser. Risk management and insurance needs should be addressed in all financial plans, and will vary depending on the client's specific situation. This course examines both the insurance products and the strategies involved in effective risk management.
