This course provides an overview of human perception and cognition. The study of perceptual psychology is directed toward understanding how information is acquired from the environment through sensory organs while the study of cognitive psychology looks specifically at the storage, manipulation and retrieval of such information. Topics covered include visual and auditory perception, memory, language, categorisation and reasoning. You will learn to conduct core experiments into perceptual and cognitive phenomena and will have the experience of analysing and interpret the findings of their research.
