Our teaching staff are industry professionals, and offer you personal attention, learn your strengths and help you grow incrementally through your degree. You will take part in real radio and television broadcasts and develop quality print and digital news content for local media. You’ll get first-hand experience in the world of news media through your internship in the media industry. Your internship is organised for you by USC and consists of 13 days in a news agency.
Our graduates have interned at news outlets including ABC Radio Coast FM, Sea FM, Channel 7, WIN, The Courier-Mail and the Sunshine Coast Daily. Throughout your program you’ll build a portfolio of work that will enable you to graduate with the right ingredients to help you land a job in the competitive journalism industry. In order to graduate you must:
- Successfully complete 288 units as outlined in the Program Structure
- You must select and apply to register your selected major(s) and/or minor(s) as soon as possible

- Completing this program within the specified (full-time) duration is based on studying 48 unit points per semester (normally 4 courses) and following the recommended study sequence
- The unit value of all courses is 12 units unless otherwise specified
- It is each students responsibility to enrol correctly according to your course requisites, program rules and requirements and be aware of the academic calendar dates
- Courses within this program are assessed using a variety of assessment methods which may include essays, seminar presentations, reports, in-class tests and examinations
- Some required introductory courses may count towards some minors
