USC is now offering a Special Elective in Arts: Acoustic Ecology (ART200)
Acoustic Ecology is a fascinating field of inquiry concerned with the ecological, social and cultural contexts of our sonic environment.
In this once-off course available to students in any USC program during Session 8, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your skills in this area, including an immersive 4-day field trip to Fraser Island from 15 - 18 January 2018.
The discipline of Acoustic Ecology assists you in developing your auditory perception through the applied study of sonic environments, field recording, ecological awareness and active listening. These practices will be introduced through critical enquiry, historical context, interdisciplinary perspectives and practical activities.
