Student Leadership Symposium

The Student Representative Council (SRC) is excited to announce the 2019 USC Student Leadership Symposium.

Student Representatives, Leaders and Volunteers from all USC campuses are invited to attend this prestigious event where you will develop valuable professional and leadership skills.

Date: Friday 19 July 2019

Time: 9am–4pm

Location: USC Sunshine Coast campus

(USC will assist with travel arrangements for students to attend the USC Sunshine Coast campus, if this is not their home campus, where possible)

Last year’s inaugural Symposium, themed ‘Governance and Leadership’, was an amazing success with over 40 student leaders from Fraser Coast, Gympie, Sippy Downs and SouthBank attending the professional development day. Students represented the Student Representative Council, Student Guild, various Clubs and Societies, USC Committees and Boards, Study, Peer Leaders and Leadership Award Nominees.

The 2019 Student Leadership Symposium has the theme ‘Employability, Mentoring and Leadership’, and this year the SRC is offering 80 student leaders the opportunity to attend.

Throughout the event students will participate in a variety of workshops presented by USC professionals, leaders, guest speakers and alumni.

Every year we provide students with the opportunity to present to their peers at our ‘round table’ session, enabling students to increase their leadership skills and develop peer partnerships. If you would like to present either individually or as a group, pitch to us in 100 words or less a synopsis of your proposed presentation.
What students gained from last year’s Student Leadership Symposium:

“Reassurance and knowledge that where you start doesn't necessarily dictate where you end up.”

“Knowledge, good food, ideas, new people to collaborate with, leadership award points and inspiration.”

“So much! I learnt that other people have the same doubts, fears, and passions that I do and that nothing is impossible.”

Networking with other student leaders that I had not had the opportunity to meet previously. Being inspired by other students.
