Funding overseas study

External and internal USC grants are available for travel and in-country living costs.

Current USC travel grants include:

  • NCPSEM Korea: Undergraduate. All disciplines *
  • NCPSEM Taiwan: Undergraduate. All disciplines *
  • ISEP USA: Undergraduate. All disciplines *

* To be eligible, applicants must meet the funding body’s eligibility requirements. Please note, ISEP now falls within the ELP grants.

OS-HELP

OS-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan program that provides financial assistance to eligible students wishing to undertake part of their Commonwealth Supported program overseas.

In 2019, the maximum students can borrow for a six-month study period is:

• A$6,791 for Non-Asian countries
• A$8,149 for Asian countries

Rules and conditions
  • Bachelor or Honours
  • Must be an Australian citizen
  • Age limit 18-28yrs at commencement of mobility project (applies to 70% of participants). 30% allowance for participants over 28yrs per project.
  • Students cannot receive a Student Grant to undertake a Mobility Project in a Host Location in which they have dual citizenship or residency rights, or in which they have previously been a citizen or permanent resident
  • Undertaking an undergraduate course (Bachelors or Honours) at USC
  • Not have previously received an NCP short term grant
  • Must obtain credit for course in which overseas travel is a component

Endeavour Leadership Program (ELP) up to A$2,500

  • South Africa: Undergraduate. Animal Ecology, Environmental Science, PR, Tourism, Design
  • Ecuador, Galapagos Islands: Undergraduate. Animal Ecology
  • Indonesia: Postgraduate coursework. Multi-discipline
Rules and conditions
  • Must be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
  • Undertaking an undergraduate course (Bachelors or Honours) or postgraduate (Masters Coursework) at USC
  • Not have previously received an Endeavour Short term mobility grant
  • Must obtain credit for course in which overseas travel is a component
