Criminology and Justice student Alex took a winding path to find the right degree.
"I understand that not everyone has an easy journey to finding their fit at university. It’s always nice to know that you aren’t alone if you are still trying to figure things out.
"After high school, I was certain that I wanted to be a primary school teacher, but once I began university I realised it just wasn’t quite the right fit for me. After that first semester I changed degrees multiple times trying to find something that felt right, jumping from journalism to animal ecology and back to public relations. That was until a year and a half ago when I found my perfect fit in Criminology and Justice and I’ve never looked back.
"My passion in this field is within the area of prison reform, so my long-term career aim is to work in that area and to hopefully contribute to positive change.
"I am so grateful for the help I was given at USC in finally finding Criminology. Without student services and some wonderful tutors, I’m sure I would still be blindly switching between degrees."
