Arguably the world's best Goal Shooter, the prolific scorer spearheaded Lightning's attack in its debut season and finished the competition as the League's most consistent shooter at 94% accuracy with a whopping 589 goals.
Bassett capped off the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball season with her first premiership win after 12 years of national league netball.
As a member of Lightning's leadership group, her wealth of knowledge and experience were invaluable for the foundation Club. Time and time again, "C-Bass" delivered the goods and picked up not one, not two, but SIX Nissan MVP awards during the inaugural season. The stalwart was naturally one of the first athletes selected for Australia to contest the 2017 Quad Series and Constellation Cup. On 18 August Bassett was unveiled as the Diamonds' 24th Captain as voted by her teammates.
The 193cm giant is the most experienced member of the 2017/18 Australian Diamonds squad. With two Netball World Cups and one Commonwealth Games medal to her name, Caitlin knows how to perform on the international stage. The West Australian shot the winning goal in the 2011 Netball World Cup and holds the unique accolade of being the first shooter to win the Liz Ellis Diamond after a career-best 2015 season.
She broke her personal best international record in the third test of the Constellation Cup, with 55 goals from 64 attempts at 86% accuracy, on 15 October 2016.
