POSITION: GS/GA

PREVIOUSLY PLAYED WITH: Netball QLD Development

HEIGHT: 192cm

PLACE OF BIRTH: Australia

The youngest player in the Lightning squad, 20-year-old Cara Koenen is an incredibly gifted and hard-working athlete. Fierce, yet composed, her combination with Caitlin Bassett in the shooting circle blossomed in the first three matches of Super Netball, with Koenen filling the void left by the injured Steph Wood at Goal Attack.

A former Australia 19/U and 20/U representative, the 190cm goaler is one to keep an eye on in the future.

As a junior, Koenen made enormous sacrifices to pursue her netball dream, clocking up more than 50,000 kilometres travelling from Magnetic Island to Townsville and beyond to train, before jumping on a plane every weekend to join Queensland’s underage representative sides.

As well as playing elite netball, the prodigious talent is completing a B. of Forensic Science / B. of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
