Industrious. Determined. Clinical. Queenslander, Laura Scherian is a lot of things. Above all, the pint-sized powerhouse is persistent. A stint with the Firebirds in the former Trans-Tasman Netball League was followed by years of toiling away in the second-tier Australian Netball League.
The eternal optimist, the 28-year-old took it in her stride and made the most of the situation to better herself personally and professionally. The midcourter personifies what the Sunshine Coast Club is about; hard work, respect, team first.
Scherian's sublime showing in Suncorp Super Netball earned her an invite to train at the Australian Diamonds' camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in the lead-up to the 2017 Quad Series and Constellation Cup - just reward for a tremendous season at Lightning. Scherian was made an official reserve for Australia's Fast5 team to contest October's Fast5 Netball World Series in Melbourne.
The midcourter adds valuable leadership having captained the Queensland Fusion in the Australian Netball League and been part of a gold medal-winning Australian side at the 2009 World Youth Cup.
