HPSA Skeleton Athlete Elliot Brown at the National Bobsleigh and Skeleton Testing Camp in Sydney

Two weeks ago, I participated at the National Bobsleigh and Skeleton testing camp run by the governing body for Skeleton in Australia, Sliding Sports Australia (SSA). I successfully hit my testing targets which has now brought me closer to being eligible for selection on the 2022 Winter Olympic Games team.

To make this goal a reality, I now need to continue to develop my sliding ability, move up the world rankings and be ranked in the top 75 athletes in the world. To achieve this, I need to compete at a number of international competitions over the next three seasons to gain ranking points in order to improve my world ranking and meet SSA's athlete selection pathway.

At present, I am coming into an intense training period in preparation for my first races of the season where I will travel to Innsbruk Austria, Sigulda Lativa and Altenburg Germany to race on the European Cup Circuit. After this, I will be basing myself in Whistler Canada for a two-month training block. This is something that I an extremely excited for because Whistler has the fastest ice in the world, where athletes can slide at over 140km/h.

Skeleton is an expensive sport and is predominantly self-funded. We often joke on the Skeleton circuit that you need a trust fund to participate in it! So, for this season I have set up an Australian Sport Foundation fundraising page. If you would to support me on my journey, please feel welcome to donate or follow my socials on the links below:

Every dollar you donate is tax deductable and is incredibly helpful in funding international travel, ice time, race entry fees and much more!
