Melanie Wright (Schlanger) (2016) Swimming


Spanning over 10 glorious professional swimming years, Melanie made her first Australian team in 2006 having started swimming at age 14 in Maroochydore. Coming away with three bronze medals at the Pan Pacific Championships in Canada and a gold medal at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne, Wright's fast paced freestyle successfully gained Melanie her first Olympic gold and bronze medals at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Coming back from retirement, Melanie won gold as the anchor of the 4x100 freestyle relay winning in record time at the London 2012 Olympic Games and broke a world record for the long course 4x100m freestyle relay at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
