Rebecca was many peoples 1st glimpse of kiteboarding around Australia. She was Australia's 1st kiteboarder to get extensive coverage outside of the tiny kitesurf media, with articles in the surf mags, inflight mags, women's mags and mainstream media, paper and TV.

Rebecca competed and won the Women's Mambo wavesailing championships in 2000, finished runner up in 2001 and won the event again in 2003. In 2000, Rebecca won best sports men (no women's division)- at Coolum kitefest and came 1st at the event in 2001 and was the best sports man Woolgooga wavesailing competition (1st Australian wave kite event).

She won back-to-back national titles (2002-2003) and came 3rd at the Kiteboard Pro World Tour stop in 2002. In 2003, Rebecca won the Big Air titles, Australian kite league, the Suncorp sports star of the year award QLD and was the first Australian to win a world championship in kite boarding.
