Luke Hogarth is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the School of Health and Sport Sciences. Prior to his current appointment Luke completed his Undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science at James Cook University, Townsville (2009-2012) before moving to the Sunshine Coast to complete his Doctorate at the University of the Sunshine Coast (2013-2016). Luke’s current research interest is the development of methods for evidence-based classification in Paralympic swimming.

Funded by the International Paralympic Committee, Luke’s research aims to provide process-focused knowledge that allows for the development of an evidence-based classification system that minimises the impact of impairment on the competition outcome and promotes participation in swimming by people with a disability. Luke also has research interests in applied sport science and strength and conditioning, in particular methods of measuring internal and external workloads and understanding their relationship with physical fitness, fatigue and the training response in athletes.
