Kayla Stefanidis


Kayla Stefanidis is a postdoctoral research fellow within the Healthy Brain Ageing (HBA) clinic at the Sunshine Coast Mind and Neuroscience - Thompson Institute. Kayla completed her PhD in 2019, which focused on the relationship between cerebrovascular hemodynamic function and cognition in healthy ageing and non-stroke cardiovascular disease, using Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound and electroencephalography (EEG) techniques. Her primary research interests include:

  • The role of cerebral blood flow and cerebrovascular disturbances in the pathogenesis of age-related cognitive decline/dementia
  • The links between cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline/dementia
  • The use of EEG and imaging techniques in identifying markers of cognitive decline/dementia risk
  • Non-pharmaceutical approaches to combating age-related cognitive decline/dementia
