Michael Nielsen, the Team Leader, Research and Advanced Instrumentation is a key member of the Technical Operations Management team. Michael plays the lead role in coordinating and managing high quality services, resources and activities that support USC’s research activities in the assigned portfolio across multiple campuses. Michael manages and leads a skilled technical staff team, as allocated to the portfolio to support these activities and implements and maintains operational processes and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective provision of these services. Working closely with academics and researchers, Michael is responsible for the design and delivery of high-level managed laboratory and research facilities that enable research activities to be conducted safely and effectively at multiple campuses. Michael is responsible for the PC1 and PC2 research laboratories, and other auxiliary research facilities. Michael has specialist expertise (Aanalytical cChemist) in a range of analytical instrumentation and provides assistance to staff and students in the installation, operation, training and maintenance of the scientific equipment infrastructure.
Michael Nielsen supports a range of activities that contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate chemistry teaching and research programs.
